TODAY'S MESSAGE
It was one last, desperate attempt to salvage a rapidly deteriorating situation. One of Jesus’ companions, identified as Peter in John 18:10, grabs a sword and cuts off the ear of one of those coming to arrest him. Healing the wounded man (Luke 22:51), Jesus responds to Peter with words that take us back to Elisha at Dothan. “Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?” Is it possible that the angels Jesus could have called were also present when the eyes of Elisha’s servant opened at Dothan?
Both Elijah facing the army of Aram and Jesus facing the cross call us to trust the God we cannot see. If we don’t, we respond with fear (like the servant) or take things into our hands (like Peter). When we do, we see God for who he is and what he’s doing.
IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Meditate on the lyrics, “I count on one thing, the same God that never fails, will not fail me now.” Use these lyrics to encourage you to trust God at a deeper level. When facing fear or when you’re tempted to take things into your hands, remember that God “is working all things out” for your good (Romans 8:28-30).
