TODAY’S MESSAGE

A Jew named Apollos comes from Alexandria to Ephesus while Paul is away and begins teaching in the synagogue. Alexandria was the second-largest city in the Roman world and known for being a place of learning. It is no surprise that Apollos is educated, speaks with great fervor and teaches about Jesus accurately. In short, he has an uncommon gifting in knowledge, passion and teaching.

Apollos is still missing something despite these gifts. He sounds like a faithful Jesus-follower but Priscilla and Aquilla notice he has some blind spots in his Jesus-message and take the time to work with him graciously. Even better— he is willing to listen.

Some of us have unique and uncommon gifting of some kind too. It could be in academics, business or some interpersonal skill like encouragement or compassion. But God has given ALL OF US gifts. Throughout the Bible, we see God uses all different types of people in all types of ways. Our part is to find ways to use the gifts God has given us to bring him honor and help people around us.
