TODAY’S MESSAGE

Proverbs is a place we can go to learn what it means to live humbly and with gentleness. We see these topics mentioned over and over. “…with humility comes wisdom” (Proverbs 11:2), “…humility comes before honor” (Proverbs 18:12) and “…the lowly in spirit gain honor” (Proverbs 29:23). The Proverbs are a great place to learn about humbleness and gentleness.

We can also come to a person. To see a life of perfect gentleness and humility, Jesus says, “Come to me.” When we’re frustrated and exhausted by everything life throws at us, these three words are all we need to hear. In a seemingly never-ending pandemic, “Come to me.” As political tensions escalate, “Come to me.” When everything seems upside down, “Come to me.” Jesus offers us his yoke of humility and gentleness we especially need right now. Disconnecting from our old yoke means we’re only halfway there. We need to attach to Jesus’ yoke of humility and gentleness. When we do, we’ll find our needed rest.
